Awarded annually by Richard and Eileen Wademan to the winner of the power fun-fly competition

Schedule

Rise off ground take off

Position for first task.

TASK 1

One minute of loops, inside or outside at pilots discretion. Each completed loop scores 1point.

Position for second task.

TASK 2

One minute of rolls, each roll to be 360 degrees minimum. Each scoring roll must be separated from the previous roll by a change of course of at least 180 degrees, for example first roll flying left to right, next roll flying right to left.

Each completed roll scores 1 point.

Position for third task.

TASK 3

One minute of stall turns, each  turn which is judged successful scores 1 point.

Position for the fourth task.

TASK 4

Limbo.

One attempt only, any contact with the ground during the attempt is a fail.

Task scores 10 points for upright, 20 points for inverted. Pilot must choose which will be attempted prior to take off and inform the judges of his selection at that time.

Position for fifth task.

TASK 5

Spot landing.

One attempt only, model may be manoeuvred in the air near the spot landing point but not climb out again  for another attempt. No taxiing allowed.

Points awarded 5,10 &20 depending on the distance from the spot. Exact distances to be decided on the day to reflect  the conditions.

Model to be in a flying condition after the spot landing, broken props allowed.

After the measuring for the distance prepare for task Six.

TASK 6

Aircraft returned to the flight line, broken props may be replaced and i.c. engines re-started without penalty.

Aircraft to perform a rise of ground take off and climb out to a height decided by the pilot, then the aircraft is to be put into a spin, each 360 degree rotation scores 1 point. At the pilots discretion exit the spin and land within the confines of the strip. Pilots may repeat the climb and spin process if they wish.

The entire task, wheels off ground to wheels back on the ground to take no more than 60 seconds.

Landing outside the strip, going over the 60 seconds allowed or damaging the model beyond flying condition will result in a zero score for this task.

Tasks Complete

Scoring

Tasks 1 to 3 will be scored individually and competitively, i.e. the person with the most loops in task 1  scores 10 points, second highest scores 8 points, third 6, fourth 5, fifth 4, six 3, everyone below sixth who completes at least one loop, 2 points. The points from each task are the added together to form each pilots score.

The scores from tasks  4 to 6 are then added to make each pilots total score.

No time points this year.

General Rules

Pilots must remain on the flight lines at all times, unless involved in a restart.

If a plane goes dead stick  during a task, that task is considered complete. Restarts are permitted, but the contestant will start the next task following such an event. Pilots must return to the flight line prior to taking off again. Pilots should consider having a suitably equipped assistant available to enable this to be carried out safely, please bear in mind that there are no time penalties, so don’t panic!

No refuelling or battery changing after starting the competition.

All tasks to be flown sufficiently close in to the judges so that they can see the manoeuvres, models drifting too far away will be  recalled to nearer in. Time lost during tasks for this will not be credited.

Judges opinion on stall turns and spins is final ! Come to think of it, Judges opinion is final on all matters !

Any queries can be answered at the pilots briefing on the day.

The format of the competition remains as last years, these resulted in a very close result last year, places  were separated by only one scoring manoeuvre, let’s hope it’s the same this year.

Practice, have fun, and good luck.
